when a win is not really a win

as the Philadelphia Eagles drawin near the end of the game with a 35-17 lead against the Detroit Lions...they somehow managed to let the Lions scored 2 TD AND a 2-point conversion...AND managed to let the on-side kick get away from them and almost let the win escaped...

-QB Michael Vick started in place of the cleared-to-play-next-week QB Kevin Kolb. he was 21 for 34, 284 yard, 2 TDs and 0 turnovers...he also rushed for 37 yards. all in all, Vick played like how you thought he was capable of playin...really had some nice throws, really poised, ran very well and also made some indecisive plays. what do you expect for a guy who hasn't made a start since 2006...he still play better than what i think Kolb can do
-on offense, it was a much improvements. besides the TD pass to WR DeSean Jackson (135 yard) and Jeremy Maclin (26 yards), RB LeSean McCoy REALLY showed himself off today with 120 yards and 3 TDs...now THIS McCoy looks like he's made to replace the great Brian Westbrook...not the last week one
-with the new TE Garrett Mills made his debut today helpin out Brent Celek, he could give Celek a fight for a startin job or even as back-up because even though Mills didn't make that much of an impact, he's more hungry and (i feel) more reliable @ this point. i mean, Celek had 2 great catches but he dropped one that was so easy it was ridiculous - we can't have that Dallas Clark or Antonio Gates caliber TE in Celek if he keeps droppin passes like that
-with C Jamal Jackson out with a torn bicep, Mike McGlynn took the duty of snappin the ball and for the entire game, he was solid. of course, our O-line is never perfect...G Nick Cole drew a costly false start, RT Jason Peters did well - when he's not injured (*sigh*) but in his absence King Dunlap looks decent...and i like Winston Justice but some plays he let the DE get by him too easily...we can't afford to let our QB take those kind of hits!
-replacin FB Leonard Weaver isn't easy...so credits has to be given to the Eagles for pickin up Owen Schmitt from the Seattle Seahawks. Schmitt played pretty well, blockin and runnin...although we didn't get to see much - hopefully he can fill that void that Weave left...and is it me or did RB Mike Bell looked like a rookie? slippin, runnin into his own lineman, and runnin into his own runningback? wasn't you a Super Bowl champ?
-defense...DE Brandon Graham had his 1st sack and S Nate Allen picked off QB Shaun Hill in the endzone that led the DJax TD...S Quintin Mikell had his hans on the ball 2x and couldn't maintain it...while also lettin WR Calvin Johnson blew behind him for the TD followed by a 2-point conversion - boo!!
-oh our linebackers...i know Ernie Sims was waitin for this game, and yes he played his heart out...but for their rookie RB Jahvid Best racked up over 200+ yards on the ground and air...especially that horrific performance tryin to defend that screen pass...of course, Akeem Jordan and Omar Gaither looked like how they are: undersized and overwhelmed. yes they did good things but those small, frequent mistakes will cost us dearly...
-i still don't see why CB Joselio Hanson is so cocky...he made a game decidin block on the pass but, that's it! nothin else the entire game...and what the fuck is wrong with S Kurt Coleman? you're a rookie - sit your rookie ass down and play the game respectively...fuckin 15 yards for tauntin...and you didn't even accomplish shit!
-speakin of rookie: WR Riley Cooper - oh Sunshine...you had a great catch for a 1st down...and then managed to NOT catchin an onside kick ball, which is what you are paid to do: catch footballs!....that was bad, just bad.
-on a positive note - Andy Reid had better clock management...we (i believe) still had 2 TO left...wow

but this is the 2010 Detroit Lions...not the 2009 or 2008. respectively, they are a much better team. i have to give credit to them because they did not give up...but i still feel we could've did better - Eagles D always know to slack off durin 4th quarter when they think they have the game won...a mistake that should be wipe clean because teams like the Colts, Texans, and the NFC East rivalries won't quit either...
