WHAT A !@#$%^ GAME!

let's start off by sayin that nothin gets me goin than a sports rivalry. in any sports, you play it because you love it and you have a respect for those who play in it. football players and coaches shake hand and hug after agame...mma fighters shows respect to each other after a match...people respectin people because @ the end of the day, everyone gets paid and no fatality occurs...and if someone does disrespect you, you handle it on a neutral ground as in the ring or the field

with that said - WHAT A FUCKIN GAME! Philadelphia Eagles - 59, Washington Redskins - 28
where to start. let's start on the Special Teams:

-K David Akers was good for 11 points (8 fg and 1/1 48-yards)...solid as ever
-P Sav Rocca averaged about 40-yards but he only punted 4 times, which is good imo cuz we usually punt alot
-K/PR Jorrick Calvin had a solid game as well and made a lucky saved on his own fumbled

now on to the Defense:
-the Eagles still keepin that streak of not allowin a Pro-Bowl RB to score a TD and that's because RB Clinton Portis was still out with a groin injury. the mack truck Ryan Torrain was thought (by me) to be startin again since he ran over us last time was on the side for the entire game due to a reoccurrin hamstring injury
-so the 3rd backup RB, Keiland Williams did pretty good against us, i believed scorin 2 rushin TD and 1 receivin...and went over 100-yards...but we at least kept them to around 100-yard total rushin
-DT Trevor Laws and DE Juqua Parker each sacked Donovan McNabb and DE Darryl Tapp batted down a crucial 3rd down pass as he chased McNabb down - i gotta say, for a 30+ yrs old QB, McNabb was pretty elusive and hard to bring down...DE Trent Cole had his hands on him a bit and knocked him down once but no sack...and LB Ernie Sims also had him but couldn't followed through - oh well, as long as the pressure there
-and speakin due to pressure, that led McNabb to turned the ball over 3 times...2 to CB Dimitri Patterson who's startin in place of the injured hip Ellis Hobbs and 1 tipped off to rookie S Kurt Coleman who's fillin in for another rookie S Nate Allen
-there is one negative note. not to pick on the guy but CB Joselio Hanson got burned on a TD pass and run by a LINEBACKER/FULLBACK Darrel Young and was too slow to catch him that S Quintin Mikell ran into him tryna catch the other guy...i just don't like Hanson
-i think or D-line did one hell of a job pressurin McNabb. DT Mike Patterson is reliable as always leadin the team with 5 tackles and replacin Brodrick Bunkley is 2 very reliable DT in Antonio Dixon and Trevor Laws
-for once, CB Asante Samuel and DE Trent Cole didn't have their names called much, Samuel specially but they didn't do bad at all, very consistent and that's better than mistakes bein made. also no INT for Samuel this game, which is fine cuz he picked off 2 VERY important ones last week against one of the best QB and that's what matter
-the defense did allowed 2 big play in one where TE Fred Davis pushed off (more like down) LB Stewart Bradley and ran down the sideline and picked up 71-yards and the 2nd was where WR Anthony Armstrong just beat CB Dimitri Patterson and jumped up to get a 76-yard play. note: Kurt Coleman is pretty fast cuz both plays he had to ran from the other side to push the players out of bound or tackle them. now, i don't know why he was on the other side but maybe that's how the play was designed? either way, they scored a TD on each of that but at least the effort was there

now to the high-scorin (at least for this game) Offense:
-startin with the O-line, which i felt was rock solid...only allowed 1 sack but i'm pretty sure LB Lorenzo Alexander came in on the right side blitz unblocked and got a clean shot against Vick...now RT Winston Justice should've had that but Justice was blockin his man...so maybe it was the RB or FB? i don't remember exactly but they should've saw the blitz - still credit to the Skins for disgusin alot of their schemes
-for the most part, no penalties against the penalty-lovin LT Jason Peters, who played great against the Skins 3-4 defense
-C Mike McGlynn did a good job against the rush of the $100 million NT Albert Haynesworth, even pinnin him down once in the redzone and Haynesworth just laid there...also RG Nick Cole also did pretty good - drew 1 false start penalty but besides that, he helped out McGlynn and knocked over Haynesworth once too...and LT Todd Herremens also played well - saw him blockin a guy then block another on Vick's left in the redzone, allowin Vick to walked in for a TD

-with the O-line doin so well and gellin - that gave plenty of time for Vick to stay in the pocket, go through his progression and make big plays either with his feet or arms...and it also kept the middle open for RB LeSean McCoy to break through for his 1st receivin TD after a shovel pass from Vick and rushin for nearly 100-yard. Andy Reid also utilized quite a few screens with McCoy - who had a great game
-also rushin for us was former Cleveland Browns RB Jerome Harrison who had him a 100+yards game and a TD. Harrison was everythin i expected, and we all did, Mike Bell to be. he was physical, cut through the lanes, breakin tackles...he was just a good compliment to McCoy

-i can't leave out the dependable and great hands/blocker FB Owen Schmitt. he was terrific, regardless if he didn't showed it in yards or TD - any pass thrown to him was caught - he picked up the short yards and was excellent in blockin
-last but not least of the offense, the wide receivers. let's start the openin of the game and throw an 88-yard TD pass to WR DeSean Jackson within 12 seconds of the game. 1 play, 1 TD - the play that left S LaRon Landry's face in the dirt. Jackson ended up bein double-covered through the game and only had 1 more catch totallin 98 yards on 2 attempts

-next up is a WR just a dangerous, Jeremy Maclin who pulled in a spectacular 48-yard pass from Vick @ the 1-yard line and right into the endzone. Maclin ended the day with 4 for 79-yards

-also a TD went to WR Jason Avant and he caught it in the endzone. i was pretty sure he in bound but the Skins ran out of challenges anyway so :-P

-rookie TE Clay Harbor started today AS WELL as Brent Celek. now although neither made any impact, Celek had a great pass thrown to him but ended up droppin it as he got hit. BUT as a TE, you're suppose to be more physical than the wideouts but Celek just seems to be...droppin the ball (no pun intended) alot lately...he needs to step it up or Harbor will sneak right through him and so could returnin TE Cornelius Ingram

now for the main topic: Michael Vick
-20/28 CMP/ATT, 333 YDS
-8/80 rushing
-5 TD (they counted 6 for the shovel pass to McCoy), 3 to 3 receivers, 2 himself
-0 INT
-1st 10 plays, he was 10/10, 100% completion, 153.8 PERFECT QB rating
-151.3 (i THINK ) QB ratin for the game
-he made franchise history with the score and Monday Night Football history as well - there's literally too much to state because alot happened. for more news go to the NFL site and the official Philadelphia Eagles site for more news and pictures (courtesy of them)

on one last note: that lil' intro was for the rowdy non-physical altercation that took place before kick-off between the Birds and Skins. apparently the Eagles were walkin back into the locker room and LaRon Landry and DeAngelo Hall made some comments to DeSean Jackson about "puttin his lights out" and havin him "go night-night", which is all referrin back to that serious concussion that Jackson had 2 weeks ago durin the Atlanta Falcons game. that sparked the crowd of pushin and shovin...and what's really interestin was that Mike McGlynn said Landry spat in his face twice durin the game...seriously? spittin? that sounds like some gay shit Baltimore Ravens FB Le'Ron McClain did against a Miami Dolphins player...hmmm...either way, why would McGlynn lied? that would be some bitch moves that the Skins would do...

anyway

i'm goin to enjoy this 'til Sunday night when we gotta face the New York Giants for the division lead. we'll see which Eli Manning will show up but for now, it's good to savor this moment and leave you with what Steve Young said about the Eagles,

"i don't know who can stop them"...*

*(accordin to how they played today if they continued like it)
