pic a plate: Silk City, Philadelphia, PA

we went to this diner in Northern Liberties in Philadelphia, PA called Silk City. it was a 45min wait and we ended up sittin @ the counter to eat
the entrance is actually to the left of the door/steps

place was nice...cozy...there is also an outside section too which was pretty cool. the staff was nice, but like other places in Philly, it was like a trendy, hip environment...
we ordered this strawberry french toast...which was pretty good. but i forgot if we got it 1st or after our meal...hmm
i had the southern breakfast...consisted of pulled pork, cornbread, fried eggs and grits. the meal was delicious. the pork was tender and sweet, the bread was good and so was the eggs. i'm not a fan of grits, at all. but everythin else was worth it
she, surprisinly, got the steak and eggs. it's actually braised beef and fried eggs...but man it was delicious. beef was tender and soft. sauce was delicious...and she actually had ginger beer, which you can see on the top of the pic, and...it was an acquired taste.

overall: 4/5 - food, service and environment was great - my only thing is the portion's tiny :) but that's just me bein greedy - but definitely a good take on breakfast here
