if you take the 1 train and get off @ the Christopher St station, you turn around and it's right next to GNC. for some reason Google Maps show it all the way uptown but it's actually near the lower west side. anyway, she found this place in one of the magazine from the hotel room and it was listed under 'steakhouse'. so we took the train there...and it was around 10-11pm when we went there. thank god it was open 'til 3AM!! on a Monday! = awesome!
1st off - me and the ol' lady got a thing where we're set out to try every fried calamari every place available. our best so far: Cheesecake Factory near home. anywho, this one is seriously a contender. it's huge and crunchy yet soft on the inside. the marinara sauce was delicious...and the whole dish was perfect
i also ordered the new england chowder too...and it was yummy. it was delicious, filled with clams and potatos. i thought the soup was just right, even though i'm greedy and would like to have a whole bunch of clams...it was enough :)
so i had this steak thing with mashed potatoes and asparagus...it too was delicious. i like my steak medium-well and it was cooked correctly. i don't remember much about the mashed but i think i didn't like it much, it was kinda bland. good steak though!
she had this pasta dish with panchetta and...cheese? man i forgot...but she liked it. she had her non-pork thing so i ate alot of the pork. it's not my thing cuz i prefer meat over everythin...but it was a good dish
we also ordered some drinks and had an excellent time listenin to the live jazz that was goin on 'til after we left, which was around 1am
overall: 5/5 - i would give it less because of the server, although friendly and great, tends to disappear and we waited like 30min just to pay...i asked the bartender but apprehensive cuz i don't wanna get anyone in trouble...but the place itself, deserves 5/5 and that's what it's based on - ENJOY!
