-Game4 vs New York Giants
-Flight Time:
ah...the hated Giants. conference rival. divison rival. upstate rival. and the worst, defendin Super Bowl Champions. i've gotta give it to them. they won the championship, they are the best. what more motivations does the Eagles need? maybe redeemin themselves from last week horrific loss? or how bout the retirin of Eagles great, legendary Brian Dawkins?!
what a guy. he was feedin the crowd and the team and boy did we felt it. I felt it...shit...I WAS THERE!!
it was the most excitin game ever...EVER!! i love Dawkins...my favorite player of all time! ...but enough of that, cuz Dawkins didn't want them to play for him. he told them to go out and 'act a fool' and play for the themselves. play for the city. play for the fan! and they sure did. the Eagles came out lookin slow...but finished the 1st half leadin 7-3 with a TD pass from Michael Vick to DeSean Jackson
Jackson end up finishin the game with 99yds. prolly his highest production in a while. what also stood out in the 1st half was the lack of productivity on the ground with us havin only 2 rushin yds. 2!! *sigh* luckily half time made up for it as again, Brian Dawkins was honored durin the half with a fantastic presentation of highlights and light show
it was spectacular. Dawkins came out to the introduction from Merrill Reese and gave a heartwarmin speech of his own. then he ended with the great Eagles fight song!
Brian Dawkins...#20...truly a class act
back to the game - the 2nd half was basically a tight of a game as you can get. it was lead changes after lead changes as the Giants scored 2 TD which seems easy. however, Michael Vick took control of the game and made some great plays and also Andy Reid for once, STUCK WITH THE RUN! LeSean McCoy was a beast the 2nd half - runnin all over the Giants. McCoy finished with around 20-ish carry and 123yds
so as the game nearin the end...Vick took us downfield and in the endzone. 2 unsuccessful run to the right...Vick scramble left on a pass-designed play but end up takin a sack. now, i was angry initially but came to realization that it was very smart because the Giants used their last timeout with under 2mins to work with. now - was i confident? sure...that the defense won't allow a TD...not confident enough that Eli Manning won't march them down to field goal range and win it with a field goal. and my worst nightmare came true...because our kick and punt return team were HORRIBLE! it gave the Giants great field of possession every time while we start from inside or 20 every snaps. anyway - Eli did march them down to like the 30+yds...when DRC and Nnamdi Asomugha got called for pass-interference. now, DRC - maybe, but Nnamdi's call was bullshit. after that 2nd PI call - a 3rd 1 was thrown. this time it was clearly on Giants WR Ramses Barden drapin all over Nnamdi and pullin him down. that took them back on the far end of the field goal. with 15 seconds left...Giants HC Tom Coughlin decided to go for the long FG instead of gettin closer and possibly not havin enough time to set up the kickin unit. so Giants kicker Lawrence Tynes lined up for the 54 yard field goal...and he kicked...WIDE LEFT!! w00t!! JUST LIKE THAT!! i was fuckin pumped jumpin up and down on the seat...but wait! what's that? Andy Reid called a time out?! what? 1 of those "freezin the kicker" bs?! didn't you see that blown up in Dallas Cowboys HC Jason Garrett's face?!
oh Andy Reid...so here's Tynes, linin up for a 2nd chance of a missed kick...surely, professional kickers don't miss twice...specially given the opportunity with the game on the line. so there's the snap - the strong pushed in the middle...the kick was up...DEAD center...but SHORT! the kick was SHORT!!! THE EAGLES WIN!!!
-Top Birds:
-K Alex Henery - again, he's stayin consistent and end up makin all of his FG...includin a 48 yarder...keep it up!
-CB DRC - he picked off Manning in the endzone and it's exactly what we needed @ that time to keep them from scorin. unfortunately he ran out and got us back within the 10yds. sall good - he was just excited...don't blame him
-FB Stanley Havili - it's not often you call the fullback's name...ever since Leonard Weaver was here...but Havili had a nice game. had some great runs inside...good cuts...and even better blockin for McCoy. hopefully he'll get more involve in future plays
-RB LeSean McCoy - can't not have McCoy in here - who pretty much sealed the game in the 2nd half for us besides the defense. McCoy was elusive as ever - cuttin backs...breakin off huge chunks. i'm glad he stayed with it and glad Andy stayed with it
-WR DeSean Jackson - had his arguably better game this season so far...1yd shy of 100yds...made great catches all over the field. really lookin like his former self...go DJax!
-QB Michael Vick - made wasn't spectacular - but he was sure better than last game. he made good clean sharp decisions...protected the ball...and lead the team down for the winnin field goal
overall - much fuckin better. defense played well - not extremely well but well nontheless. effective against the run and bend but didn't break. hopefully we can score more than just 1 TD because as the season gets longer...7 points will mean more than 3 points...specially with the Pittsburgh Steelers comin off a bye week...with their 2 former defensive player of the year returnin...(YAY! /sarcasm)...should be a great battle of the Keystone State
-Injury Report:
not sure if Jeremy Maclin reinjured himself...but he was a non-factor through the game. Nnamdi did have his eye poked to the extent of what was thought to be a serious injury but he came back. LB Akeem Jordan was still out with a hamstring...but besides that, pretty healthy
GO BIRDS!!
