pic a plate: Banana Leaf, Philadelphia, PA

so i was duped into goin to this restaurant called Banana Leaf in Philadelphia, PA. i was told it was just an Asian restaurant but it turned out it was Malaysian! it was cool though...located on Arch St between 10th and 11th...parkin was a bitch though cuz i had to use a parkin lot and shit was $13. *sigh* i know...but the food at the Banana Leaf was reasonable and affordable
(not my picture^...the rest, are)
we started with some weird bag-like pancake with chicken curry and another dish with sweet chicken shishkabob with peanut sauce
for my entree, i got...um...a sizzlin seafood platter. i originally wanted a sizzlin triple delight platter, but turned out it's the same as the seafood platter, just spicy...motherfucker! i thought it consisted of beef, chicken and seafood...no. just seafood, but SPICAY! (say it spice-say) :)
it was good, so don't get me wrong. it's just...i coulda had it anywhere else in Chinatown. anywho, the other entree that was ordered was this rice dish wish like sauteed chicken, picked vegetables and anchovies? some dried fish...it was pretty good

it was actually more savory than mine so we both ate off each other plates and the combination mixture was pretty good. they were good portion, hearty plates. for once, i wasn't as stuffed but content. so of course, it's an American tradition to eat dessert after appetizers and entrees...so we go tthis fancy name dessert, which was basically deep fried bananas, vanilla ice cream, peanut crumbs and jam/jelly in the middle...and it was DELICIOUS!!!!!!
we couldn't wait and we dug right into it before i took a pic. i had to reformed it but it still looks AWESOME though! HIGHLY recommend it!!

overall: 4/5 - i haven't really tried anythin else there yet seein how it's my first time there but it's well worth it. i mean, alot of this i've experience before @ home but it's a different style here...more..Malaysiany i guess if that's a word...most likely not. prolly would go there again if i already parked in Chinatown already - would not go solely there and waste parkin fees
