LA Clippers: Slave City

this man...this man here, hugging on this specific individual...
this is the Los Angeles Clippers's owner Donald Sterling. an NBA owner...but by now mostly everyone knows or recognize his wrinkly face. that's due to some audio recently surfaced, courtesy of TMZ, of a conversation between him and girlfriend,  V. Stivanio
where Sterling made some radical remarks about her publicly associatin herself with African Americans, ie Magic Johnson. Stivanio, who is half black and Mexican, said she admired Johnson so when she saw him, she took a picture with him and posted it on her Instagram.

Sterling was not pleased at all about the image, which was completely innocent, and made his feelings cleared by saying, (and i quote this loosely),  "you can do whatever you want, you can hang out, you can sleep with them, take pictures, but why can't you do it in private?" what's worse is as the conversation progresses, he warned her not to bring "them" to the game, and then later mentioned black people and especially Magic.

this should come as no surprise to those following the NBA and know of Sterling's past allegations of racial discrimination and/or comments about being a white owner having black kids from the South... pretty much like a slave owner. he also had a complaint about him from the great Elgin Baylor, who worked for Sterling, for being racist and agist. not only that, Sterling has been known to be one of the worst owner in the league as far as paying and treating players fairly.

many prominent African American figures have publicly made their feelings known about the situation such as Charles Barkley, President Barack Obama, Snoop Dogg, and of course, Magic. NBA Commissioner Adam Silver promised a swift and thorough investigation so hopefully that's true and soon. as for now...we just wait and see if this type of monstrosity will get a slapped on the wrist or will there be justice

til then...
